I am a fit 32 year old American with a passion for life in all of it's diversity. I grew up in a small mountain town then traveled in the U.S. military (Air Force then Army) where I acquired 3 specialties. I do not have a university degree, but I'm quite well educated and have a very curious mind. Real life, the internet, and my private 1000 book library have provided well for me. I am currently working as a traveling contractor and am anticipating financial independence and semi-retirement within 5 years. I want to free my time for my family, volunteer work, travel, and research/teaching. I have 2 children with my ex-wife (she and I are friends now after 6 years being divorced). My kids are amazing to be with, multi-racial, and beautiful. I'm inspired by them and open to possibly having more when remarried. I love Brazilians' attitude toward racial diversity as well as the incredible health and energy of the people. I believe that Brazil is a model for the future of much of the world in this. The city of Curitiba intrigues me as well. I have a large community of friends/family which I'm very close with. Many of them I know through martial arts. Others through volunteer work and various progressive non-profit groups. For fun I love a huge variety of activities from watching a ballet to skydiving. I love cultural events with all types of music, food, and dancing. I've got a lot of musician friends. I am also very into outdoor activities (such as backpacking, kayaking, climbing and just sightseeing while renting a cabin). I am based in Michigan with many beautiful beaches and other public land. I also obviously read a lot and hang out in coffee shops a bit. I intend to remain primarily in the U.S. until my kids are grown (about 10 more years), then it's an open question. The world is a large and fascinating place. I hope to sail around it for a few years (maybe with you?) then maybe sell the boat and go overland. Ultimately I hope to eventually settle in an intentional community surrounded by loved ones and a beautiful natural setting with access to urban cultural offerings. I will happily answer any questions you may have. It is my intention to begin studying Brazilian Portuguese soon once things slow down a little for me. Hopefully you can learn English (U.S.) as well.
